- se> Does anyone out there know where I could get one (preferably
- se> free-ware). Possibly an add-on to Final Writer or on its own.
- If se> someone could point me to a web site or ftp I would be a
- happy boy.
-
- I believe Rashumon (a demo is available on the Aminet) is a
- potential answer to your problem. It is a multi-lingual text
- processor and can handle all kinds of languages and fonts. I have
- not tried it myself.
-
- What I have tried is `CJK' (Chinese-Japanese-Korean), a package
- for TeX (more specifically, for LaTeX). Unfortunately, TeX is not
- a WYSIWYG word processors. This is not surprising, it was
- developed during the 1970s. It resembles HTML in that it relies on
- embedded text commands.
-
- It is a little difficult to learn (several books are available,
- particularly for LaTeX, which is much easier to learn). LaTeX is
- available free for the Amiga, look for PasTeX in the text/tex
- directory of Aminet. Alternatively, pick up a copy of the
- Meeting Pearls Cd-ROM III, but there are a few bugs in that for
- which fixes have been published on the Web...

-
- I am afraid I have not actually tried the Japanese portion
- of CJK...I am not sure how japanese characters are `encoded' in
- computers. Oh, almost forgot, only the source code is provided
- in CJK. You will need a C compiler! I use gcc (available on
- Aminet dev/gcc). CJK is available on CTAN sites e.g. ftp.dante.de,
- also at cnd.org.
-
- I've probably put you off. LaTeX is a very nice desktop-publishing
- system, but it is not WYSIWYG.
-
- Cheerio, David.
